Field Trip to Kerala Literature Fest

The field trip of the department of Language Education English 2022-24 batch was held on January 14, 2023. The six student-teachers along with the optional teacher, Dr. Rekha K. R, started our journey to the 6th Kerala Literature Fest in Kozhikode from Kannur Railway Station at 6.35 a.m. in the Netravati Express and student teachers Arsha Vand Devika K K joined from Thalassery at 7.05 a.m. It was really a spectacular experience for all of us. It was Day 3 of the KLF, and the debates and invited talks were organized in 6 different stages namely Thoolika, Mango, Ezhuthola, Aksharam, Vakku, Kadha. We all peered over the program    schedule and noted the important talks and times that we had to listen to. It   was an incredible experience as it was the first time visiting an event with such notable names in the literary field. There was not even an hour to waste as the schedule was quite tight with sessions one after the other, some even happening simultaneously, and all of them were     equally exciting and thriving. Interim, we also   visited to the book fair of    DC books and purchased some books. Then we all out to see the valuable talks. At first, we attended the session “A Craft of Writing” with Emily Perkins in conversation.  With Priya K Nair, in which Emily Perkins discussed the importance of writing and how it can be published in the current climate.  All of us scattered in different directions, trying to attend sessions with the authors and eminent personalities that included the talk on “Representation of Children and Childhood in Children’s literature by Prof. S. Sivadas, Richa Jha and Radhika Menon in conversation with Aditi Nayar- Zacharia   Secondly, “The Paradise of Food,” Khalid Jawed and Baran  Farooqi in conversation with Supriya Menon. Thirdly, “What Determines Fiction in the 21st Century? “Anita Nair, Jerri Pinto, and Vivek Shan Bhag in conversation with Milee Aishwarya.
It was a thriving session. As a literature student, we found this session to be keenly influenced, informative, and engrossing. We got an opportunity to meet various writers such as K. R. Meera, Benyamin, Veerankutty, Father Bobby Jose Kattikadu, and Sheetal Shyam. It was so delightful, and we were blessed to take a snap with these great personalities. Meanwhile, we got an opportunity to see the programme hosted by Radio Mango, and it was so enjoyable. Kerala Literature Fest is mirabilia that celebrates creativity in all forms. It’s an event that draws many writers, artists, scholars, poets, and publishers from all over India and abroad each year.
It was fortunate to witness this literary gala. For us, the entire trip was indelible.
We left KLF at 4.45 pm and reached the railway station at 5.30 pm. we came back in the train Netravati Express and we all reached home safely and happily.
