Women’s day celebration: “Women in Leadership”

PKM College of Education, Madampam observed the International women’s day on March 12th which encompassed a webinar on the theme “Women in leadership”. This was the theme assigned by the United nations for the year 2021. The programme was conducted through Google meet platform and was started by 11 am. All the first year B.Ed students participated in the programme.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Moly Kuruvilla, professor and director of women studies, Calicut university and was the keynote speaker for the day. Dr. Sholey Joseph, staff coordinated welcomed the gathering and also detailed about the resource person. Presidential address was delivered by Dr. Jessy N C, principal of PKM college of Education. Student coordinator Sharanya L embellished the programme by announcing the whole programme.
The programme encompassed a webinar on the theme Women in leadership. The webinar was handled by Dr Moly Kuruvilla wherein she spoke about the role of women in the society, limitations of women and also spoke about the women empowerment. The webinar was followed by an interactive session which was live and all the participants actively participated in the discussion with the speaker. The webinar session was wrapped up with the discussion.
Followed by the webinar session, the programme was engaged with some of the presentations given by the students: Regina, Adithya, Sandra Biju, Lumitha bai, Aswathy N V, Juvairiya, Divya sree, Nivya Joseph, Jisna Baby, Jeena sajith, Shyona Stephen, Anaswara K on the topics “ The most influential women in my life” and “Women contributions in different subjects”. A documentary was played which was created by the students of department of Social Science. Documentary detailed about five eminent women personalities like sreedhanya Suresh- Assistant collector of Kozhikode, Arya Rajendran- Mayor of Trivandrum, Shivangi Singh- First Indian Female Pilot, P.V Sindhu- Indian Badminton player, Gita Gopinath- Indian American Economist. It also included the pictures and dreams of girl students of first year B.Ed students. The documentary was well created as it was informative and created an utmost excitement in the people who watched it.
Overall the programme was well organized and the programme was summed up by the student coordinator Athira Shaji with the vote of thanks.
