Open house on National Policy on Education Draft-2019

The IQAC of PKM. College of Education, Madampam organized an Open House on the National Education Policy 2019 Draft. We know that Education is a national Agenda and it is the catalytic tool that transform the future of our children and youth. Since path breaking reforms are recommended in the draft, as responsible members of an institution of higher education that too a teacher education institution serious discussions were held. Dr. Prasanth Mathew, Vice Principal welcomed the gathering with a note on the interest P.K.M. College takes in these types of ventures. The college Principal Dr. Jessy N.C, presided over the function and gave a clear picture on the responsibility and role of TEIs and Teacher educators in gathering different viewpoints to arrive at as conveners to provide feedback to the policy makers. How the Open House is intended to be contributory was elaborated by the IQAC Co-ordinator Dr. Rekha K.R.
A critical Review of the Policy Draft was beautifully presented by the Key Resource Person Dr. Amruth G. Kumar, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Education, Central University of Kerala. He focused the areas of school education and Teacher Education. The session was live and the participants including practicing teachers of various schools, experts from the educational field research scholars, educators and staff members of P.K.M. College reflected their views on different dimensions of the policy draft.
The anxieties on revamping teacher education Institutions and the future of Stand Alone TEls were shared.
Mr Rajeevan C.M. Mr. Ranjith Markose presented their views in the discussion session.
