In the context of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being), The Next Generation Teacher Education at P.K.M. aims to develop Teachers as Health Promoters.
“Care your Health” is a campaign initiated by P.K.M. College of Education to develop physical and mental health practices among children, youth, adults and old aged.
The campaign was inaugurated on 20th February 2019 by Dr P. T. Joseph, Director, Department of Physical Education, Kannur University in the presence of Mar Joseph Panadarasseril, Manager, P.K.M. College of Education and other dignitaries.
The “Care your Health” campaign functions under the auspices of Sports academy and Wellness Centre, Health and Physical Education Resource Centre, Health and Fitness Club and National Service Scheme of the college.
The campaign includes programmes initiated by the institution, collaborative initiatives with Governmental and Non-Governmental organisations and National Priority Programmes.
The college has functional MoUs with Malabar Social Service Society, Kannur; Caritas Cancer Institute, Kottayam; Santhi Yoga International Teacher Training and Research Foundation, Pala; Janamythri Residence Welfare Association etc for the campaign.
“Care your Health” campaign includes awareness and sensitisation programmes, day/week observances, post-COVID fitness training, school adoption, twinning programme, competitions, community campaigns, camps, interaction with eminent persons, resource talks etc. in the areas of HIV/AIDS, life style diseases, cancer, road safety, mental well-being, yoga and meditation, sports and games etc.
