PKM College of Education, Madampam, conducted a one-day art workshop titled “Peace
Scape” on October 18, 2024. The workshop was inaugurated by Assistant Professor of Physical
Education, Fr. Sinoj Joseph, and led by Peace Forum Coordinator and Malayalam Department
Professor, Minimol George (Sr. Caroline FCC), who served as the resource person. The main
objectives of the workshop were to promote peacebuilding through art, foster a peace-building
mindset in student-teachers, and transform them into peace advocates. The event began with a
peace prayer by the student-teacher team, followed by a painting activity. Students were divided
into small groups and assigned peace-related topics such as peacebuilding, conflict management,
and conflict resolution. They used natural materials like charcoal, turmeric, and flower pigments
to create artwork on a large white cloth. Each group presented their artwork, explaining how it
related to their theme. Students, including Bhagyalakshmi M V, Malavika K, Ashika T P, Asha
Mary Jose, Arya K, Anakha Balakrishnan, Sangeetha Saji, Akshaya C, Fathimathul Zuhara M, and
Anaswara Muraleedharan O, presented on topics such as conflict resolution, peacemaking, and
conflict transformation. The workshop was a great success, emphasizing the importance of peace
in society. It also strengthened relationships among students as they collaborated throughout the
art sessions.
