The Plavilakkanji program, organized by the Peace Builders Forum in association with the
Folklore Club on October 18, 2024, at PKM College, was a communal dining event aimed at
fostering togetherness and promoting a peaceful atmosphere within the college. Celebrating
Kerala’s traditional cuisine, the event centered around plavilakkanji (rice porridge), a dish
symbolizing the region’s rich heritage. The program was led by Minimol George (Sr. Caroline
FCC), Coordinator of the Peace Builders Forum and teacher-in-charge of the Folklore Club.
Principal Dr. Jessy N.C. expressed her happiness, praising the event for fostering unity and cultural
appreciation within the college. Students contributed by preparing nutrient-rich rice and various
side dishes, and the plavilakkanji was cooked over an open fire. The meal was served to staff,
students, and invited guests, including participants from nearby institutions. Many attendees,
tasting plavilakkanji for the first time, were captivated by its unique, tradition-rooted flavor. The
food committee worked diligently to ensure there was enough kanji for everyone, expressing
gratitude to all contributors. The event left a lasting impression on students and teachers,
reinforcing the values of community, mutual care, and unity. It also strengthened relationships,
fostered a positive mindset, and enriched the college’s learning environment by cultivating a strong
sense of belonging, compassion, and respect
