Dolphin Conservation Awareness Programme

As part of the Dolphin Conservation Awareness activities initiated by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the National Museum of Natural History, Government of India, the Department of Natural Science of P.K.M. College of Education, in association with the Bhoomithrasena Club and IQAC, organized a series of awareness programmes titled “Echo Blue” on 30th June 2025 at 9:30 AM in the Multipurpose Hall. The programme commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Ms. Akshaya C., Student Coordinator of the Bhoomithrasena Club. This was followed by the Dolphin Conservation Pledge, led by Mrs. Jomol Jose, Assistant Professor, Department of Natural Science, with enthusiastic participation from both staff and students. Subsequently, Ms. Sonima Krishnan C., Student Coordinator, delivered an insightful talk on dolphins, covering various topics such as species diversity, food habits, habitat, threats due to pollution, and effective conservation strategies. A short documentary video on Dolphin Conservation was also presented, further enhancing the understanding of participants on the subject. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Athira N., another Student Coordinator of the Bhoomithrasena Club. As part of the awareness campaign, a rally was also organized under the theme “Conserve All Dolphins – In Freshwater and Marine Ecosystems”. A total of 60 participants, including students and staff, actively took part in the rally.
