Onam Celebration – 2025 “Venam Madampathoronam”

P.K.M. College of Education celebrated Onam on 27th August 2025 with great fervour and enthusiasm. The celebration, titled “Venam Madampathoronam,” was a grand success, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Kerala. The festivities began with the creation of a beautiful Onam Pookkalam, designed and arranged by the students. The official inaugural function commenced at 10:30 am in the college auditorium and was presided over by Principal Dr. Jessy N.C. Dr. Fr. Sinoj Joseph, Head of the Department of Physical Education, delivered the welcome address. The function was inaugurated by the chief guest, Dr. Regi Scaria, Principal of Marygiri English Medium School, Podikkalam, who delivered an inspiring Onam message. Dr. Veena Appukuttan, Asso. Prof. in Social Studies & IQAC Coordinator, too shared her Onam message with the gathering. A special message from the legendary King Mahabali was conveyed, adding to the festive spirit. The function concluded with a vote of thanks by Union Chairperson Mr. Arun. This was followed by a vibrant cultural program, featuring an Onam group song, fusion dance, and a grand Thiruvathira performance, showcasing the creativity and talents of the students. An Onam song presented by the staff members added a special charm to the celebration. The cultural events were followed by a series of traditional Onam games, including musical ball, tunnel ball relay, lemon and spoon race, tug of war, and more, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from both students and teachers. After the games, everyone came together for the traditional Onam Sadhya, with each dish on the menu lovingly prepared and contributed by the students themselves. The day concluded with a joyful photo session, capturing the happiness, unity, and festive spirit of the celebration.
