World Environment Day

Planning
Bhoomitrasena club and department of natural science decided to observe world environment day on 6th June 2022. seed identification and leaf identification competition were planned to conduct on this day. An awareness talk on various medicinal plants by natural science optional students was planned to conduct. Different types of leaves and seeds were collected from surroundings for competition. Various medicinal plants were collected for awareness talk. Njaval (Syzygiumcumini) seedling was collected to plant in campus. Badge for the programme was made using Aalila (Ficus religiosa).
Execution
The world environment day – GAEA 2k22 was celebrated on 06-06-2022 at 2.30 pm on college Auditorium. GAEA means Goddess of earth. The department of natural science and Bhoomitrasena club cordially observed this day with planting tree, various competitions and awareness talk.
Bhoomitrasena club convenor Ann Kurian delivered welcome speech. The world environment day GAEA 2k22 was inaugurated by college vice principal Dr. Prasanth Mathew by receiving plant(Syzygiumcumini) from Bhoomitrasena club convenor and natural science student. The main theme “only one earth” was reflecting on both inaugural address as well as welcome speech. An awareness talk on various medicinal plants and their uses by student teachers of natural science optional was a main event. The plants were shown during talk.
seed identification and leaf identification competition were conducted for student teachers. 2 student teachers from each optional participated in each competition. All student teachers were given a chance to guess the seed as well as leaves. Student teacher Akshaya A V delivered vote of thanks. The seedling was planted on college campus by Bhoomitrasena club convenor in the presence of everyone. The seeds collected were sown into open land by natural science optional student teachers.

Natural science Optional teacher Ms.Vismaya appreciated all natural science optional science students as well as bhoomitrasena club members for observing day nicely.
