Film Screening on Tribal Empowerment at Wayanad

To increase the outreach of the second phase of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, as per the instructions of NCTE and the Ministry of Education, PKM College of Education Madampam visited tribal colonies in Wayanad Konniyot, Mundakutty, Vaithiri and Kanjirangad on 3rd and 4th March 2023 and screened a film for the empowerment of tribal people. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Prasanth Mathew (Vice Principal, PKM College of education). With the help of the local residents, around 65 people from 25 houses in ‘Oor’ were organized to conduct the program and we were able to learn about the tribal people’s living conditions, working methods (household work, outside jobs), children’s educational conditions, clan work, clothing methods, food methods, accommodation and we could also interact with them.

A 5-member student delegation of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, led by Program coordinator Fr. Dr. Sinoj Joseph, worked as part of the programme. Empowerment and upliftment of all sections and fulfilling their basic needs is very important for India to become a developed country in 2047.Programme was organized keeping in mind the said objectives.
