Mission Rabies – Awareness for Prevention

As part of the Rabies Awareness Mission 2030, an awareness programme was conducted at P.K.M. College of Education on 9 September 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Multipurpose Hall for student teachers. The programme was inaugurated by Principal Dr. Jessy N. C.
The resource person was Mr. Biju Antony, Education Officer, Mission Rabies (India) – a project of the World Veterinary Service, organized in association with the Department of General Education, Department of Animal Welfare, Government of Kerala, and CAWA (Compassion for Animals Welfare Association).
In his interactive and engaging session, Mr. Antony explained in detail:
Understanding pets (dogs and cats) and their moods, Precautions to be taken while interacting with pets,
Rabies prevention strategies, Immediate steps to follow in case of an animal bite and Importance of seeking timely medical care and where to access it. The session was lively and insightful, enriched with real-life stories and experiences shared by the speaker. It provided valuable awareness to the participants on the prevention and management of rabies. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Jithin Simon, student teacher of English.
