Operation Thufan: P.K.M. College of Education Joins One-Year Anti-Drug People’s Campaign

Jul 19th, 2026 | Admin

As part of the Irikkur Constituency Anti-Drug People’s Campaign, Operation Thufan, a one-year anti-drug awareness campaign, was inaugurated at Sreekandapuram on 18 July 2026 to strengthen the people’s movement against substance abuse. The campaign was inaugurated by Shri Ramesh Chennithala, Hon’ble Home Minister, who also inaugurated the ‘One Touch, One Goal’ Penalty Shoot and the Signature Campaign, two major awareness initiatives encouraging people, especially the youth, to pledge their commitment towards a drug-free society. A colourful awareness rally involving students from various schools, colleges, NSS units, youth organisations, and voluntary organisations was one of the highlights of the programme. Participants marched through the town carrying anti-drug placards and spreading awareness among the public. Every participant proudly wore a badge bearing the caption “I Am Thufan Warrior”, symbolising their commitment to the fight against drug abuse.

P.K.M. College of Education, Madampam, actively participated in the programme under its National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit. All the faculty members and student teachers enthusiastically joined the rally, the Signature Campaign, and the ‘One Touch, One Goal’ Penalty Shoot, demonstrating their solidarity with the anti-drug movement and their commitment to building a healthy, responsible, and drug-free society. The NSS unit’s participation was coordinated under the leadership of Dr. Sinoj Joseph, NSS Programme Officer and Assistant Professor of Physical Education. Dr. Prasanth Mathew, Principal of PKM College of Education, Madampam, served as the Reception Committee Convenor for the programme. The active involvement of the college community reflected the institution’s strong commitment to social responsibility, community engagement, and the promotion of a drug-free Kerala.
