Historic Achievement by Madampam P.K.M. College of Education at International Robotics Competition

Jan 22nd, 2026 | Admin

Thirteen students from Madampam P.K.M. College of Education made history by participating in RoboRoarZ Singapore 2026, an international robotics competition held on January 22–23 at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). The college became the first B.Ed. institution in Kerala to take part in such a global robotics event and was the only teacher education institution among nearly 380 participants from seven countries. The teams were led by Mr. Sunil Paul, Director of Srishti Robotics, with support from IEEE OES, as part of the collaboration between P.K.M. College and Srishti Robotics. The STEM@PKM initiative was inaugurated last year by Irikkur MLA Adv. Sajeev Joseph.
Two teams—STEM Mentors@PKM and STEM@Schools#PKM—represented the college. These teams are actively involved in promoting STEM education and have trained over 100 school students in robotics.
The teams were selected under the leadership of Dr. Jessy N.C. The STEM Mentors@PKM team, led by Dr. Prasanth Mathew, included second-year students Akshay Sibi, Aneena Chacko, Riya Sunil, Ashly Joseph, and Asha Mary Jose. The STEM@Schools#PKM team, led by Dr. Sinoj Joseph, comprised first-year students Jwala Thomas, Abeena Thomas, Shikha Dev, Dikshitha T., and Jacob Prasanth. During the competition, students interacted with Prof. Amy Eguchi of the University of California, San Diego, gaining valuable insights into the role of robotics and artificial intelligence in education. The event highlighted the growing importance of STEM education in developing problem-solving skills, creativity, and future-ready competencies, offering students confidence and enriching international exposure.
