National Science Day Celebrations & SCIFIESTA 2025–26 Valedictory Function

P.K.M. College of Education, Madampam, organized the National Science Day Celebration along with the valedictory function of the year-long science initiative “SCIFIESTA 2025–26” on 20 February 2026 at the College Auditorium. The programme was presided over by the Principal, Dr. Jessy N. C., and the introductory address was delivered by Dr. Prasanth Mathew, Vice Principal and SCIFIESTA Coordinator. The newly elected Municipal Chairman of Sreekandapuram Municipality, Adv. E.V. Ramakrishnan, and Ward Member Biju Thomas were honoured during the function. Adv. E. V. Ramakrishnan, inaugurated the National Science Day Celebration. Ward Member Biju Thomas announced the college’s partnership with the Ozone Secretariat under the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Felicitations were offered by Dr. Veena Appukuttan (IQAC Coordinator) and College UUC Akshara S. Manohar. The vote of thanks was delivered by Sreya K. K. The programme aimed at promoting scientific temper and social responsibility and saw active participation from school and college students. The highlight of the event was the keynote address by Dr. Johnson M. A., a national award-winning researcher who developed the world’s first LED lighting system using 230-volt AC power. Despite facing physical challenges as a polio survivor, Dr. Johnson overcame numerous hardships and established himself in the field of research. An interactive session and LED light assembling workshop were also conducted as part of the programme.
