World Environment Day 2026 Celebrations

College of Education organized a week-long series of programmes in connection with World Environment Day 2026. The official inauguration of the celebrations was held on June 5 at 2:30 p.m. in the college auditorium. The function was presided over by Dr. Prasanth Mathew, Associate Professor, Department of Physical Science and In charge of Principal of the college. The inaugural address was delivered by Ms. Anju M. J., Beat Forest Officer. Dr. Veena Appukuttan, IQAC Coordinator, and Ms. Alveena Jose, Convener of the Bhoomithrasena Club, offered felicitations. The vote of thanks was proposed by student teacher Jameema V. P.
As part of the observance, the College NSS Unit, in collaboration with the Sreekandapuram Municipality, planted bamboo saplings and other plants at the green island (Pachathuruthu) in Alex Nagar, supporting river conservation efforts. Various programmes were conducted during the week, including the cleaning of the college fruit garden, sapling plantation activities in households within the local community by student teachers, a digital collage competition, an educational visit to Paithalmala to promote environmental awareness, and a photography competition. The college has been actively engaged in environmental protection initiatives and has been recognized through its membership in UNESCO’s Greening Education Partnership and the A-Grade Haritha Keralam Award instituted by the Kerala Haritha Keralam Mission.
The World Environment Day celebrations were jointly organized by the College NSS Unit, Bhoomithrasena Club, and the Department of Natural Science in collaboration with the Sreekandapuram Municipality. The programme concluded successfully with active participation from students and faculty members.
